Welcome Back!

Thank you to all of our families who attended our optional Sneak-a-Peek. We heard a lot of positive feedback about this new format. It was wonderful welcoming back all of our families and meeting all of our new families on Thursday morning. Our first week has been positive and we are very excited about the year ahead.

Montessori Tenets - Grace and Courtesy

Grace and courtesy is nurturing polite, kind ways of being and social skills to create positive relationships and developing caring and contributing members of society. We believe modelling empathy and care allows the creation of a warm, inviting and mentoring learning environment. In our school you will see students greeting guests, shaking hands, making eye contact, demonstrating manners during snack, mentorship opportunities, and taking part in meaningful conversations.

Lunch Switch

We are doing a trial run switch of our lunch. To start the year we will be eating first and then going outside to play. Students will set their place for eating at 11:40. Thank you for sending a placemat that students can roll up and take home each day. We set our place for eating as part of Montessori practical life skills development as well as a focus on grace and courtesy during lunch.  At 11:55 we will ring a “warning bell” that will prompt students to know they have five more minutes to eat their lunch.  We will tidy our spaces and prepare for outside at 12:00. Once outside, students will play until the bell rings at 12:22, and then a second bell at 12:23 indicates we are going inside and instruction begins again.

LBS goes Instagram!

We are happy to announce that Lake Bonavista School has an Instagram account. You can follow us @Montessori_LBS  This is a new initiative for us. We will continue to post our weekly updates on the news story of the website. We are excited to share additional content on Instagram. This year, teachers have made a decision between blogs or Instagram to keep their classroom families informed. Thanks for your support as we make this transition and work out all of the details.

Staffing update

We are happy to welcome Miss Schlegel to LBS. Miss Schlegel will be teaching AM kindergarten and teaming with Miss Suzee.

Healthy Hunger Lunches

School Council organizes Healthy Hunger lunches for grade 1-6 students. This is an optional program. Please visit the website  https://healthyhunger.ca/ to set up your child’s account and view the list of lunches being offered. If you have any questions or need support, please contact funlunchlbs@gmail.com Orders are due in 5 days before the lunch, our first lunch is September 14^th.
