This week we had our first assembly of the school year. Our welcome back assembly included a slide show of summer photos from all of our staff. We celebrated the ways we show grace and courtesy at our school and Mrs. Kawchuk led us in a song we learned last year in music. Mrs. Watson and Ms. Rooke will be sharing the staff powerpoint at the first School Council meeting of the year. We hope to see you there.

Montessori Tenets - Grace and Courtesy

Grace and courtesy is an important aspect of Montessori education. We promote the ways that we can show grace and be courteous both at school and outside of school. In classrooms, students have been discussing examples such as the way we travel in our hallways, holding doors for others and saying good morning. How does your family demonstrate grace and courtesy? We are thankful for all of the ways that our community embodies this very important Montessori tenet.

Traffic Safety

Please remember the street in front of the school is a NO stopping zone. For the safety of our students, staff and family, we ask parents to adhere to all of the traffic restrictions.  We kindly ask that you do not walk through the staff parking lot to drop off your child as not all of our staff start at the same time, and the parking lot traffic can be ongoing throughout the day.

LBS goes Instagram!

We are happy to announce that Lake Bonavista School has an Instagram account. You can follow us @Montessori_LBS  This is a new initiative for us. We will continue to post our weekly updates on the news story of the website. We are excited to share additional content on Instagram. This year, teachers have made a decision between blogs or Instagram to keep their classroom families informed. Thanks for your support as we make this transition and work out all of the details.

From School Council

First School Council Meeting

As a parent/guardian at Lake Bonavista School, you are automatically a part of School Council and invited to each meeting. Our first meeting is Tuesday, September 12^th at 6:00. The school will send out more details on Monday on behalf of Council.

Yearbooks

Thank you to our School Council volunteers who compile and produce the annual yearbooks. If you ordered a 2022-2023 yearbook they were distributed Friday or will come home early next week. Please contact lbsyearbooks@gmail.com with any inquiries on yearbooks, including purchasing if you did not order last year.

Healthy Hunger Lunches

School Council organizes Healthy Hunger lunches for grade 1-6 students. This is an optional program. Please visit the website  https://healthyhunger.ca/ to set up your child’s account and view the list of lunches being offered. If you have any questions or need support, please contact funlunchlbs@gmail.com Orders are due in 5 days before the lunch, our first lunch is September 14^th.
