Friday, September 25th Update 

Thank you to all of the 2025-2026 School Council Executive. Our AGM was this week and we have some volunteers who have stepped down and some volunteers who have stepped into new roles. We appreciate all of the ways that you support Lake Bonavista School. 

This week we learned about Terry Fox and how he used his voice to make a difference, a legacy, in the world.  His voice and advocacy resulted in the actions of the Marathon of Hope that we honour to this day.  We look to Canadian heros, like Terry, to help us understand the way we can leave our mark, use our voice, and make a difference – no matter how small or large! We will calculate our Toonies for Terry total AND the number of laps our entire school did – both numbers are going to be high! Thank you to the volunteers who cheered us on and kept our route safe and organized. 

We are happy to congratulate Mrs. Greenhall and her husband on the arrival of their new baby girl. We wish her all the best! We welcome Miss Sikov as a new staff member who will be teaching grade 1-2 room 8 for the remainder of the school year.

School Shirts: We are happy to offer an online store where parents can choose to purchase school shirts, crewnecks and hoodies. Please watch the sizing guide on the website as there are no refunds or returns. Ordering deadline is October 10th at midnight.

Healthy Hunger 

School Council arranges for Healthy Hunger lunches to be available to students. This is an optional lunch program that is also a fundraiser for School Council. Parents will need to set up their Healthy Hunger accounts, adding students to the proper classroom.  Create a login or login again at https://healthyhunger.ca/  Lunch orders are being set up over the next couple of weeks. DUE DATE APPROACHING Lake Bonavista School Apple & Pear Fundraiser! 

New this year, the Lake Bonavista School Apple & Pear Fundraiser! A great way to support the school while filling lunch boxes with delicious, healthy snacks and for all your favourite fall baking—from apple crisps and pies to muffins and homemade treats! 

We’re offering a selection of Gala, Ambrosia and Honeycrisp apples, D’Anjou and Bartlett pears, as well as no-sugar-added dehydrated apple chips and apple drinks. 

Orders are open until September 28, 2026, with pickup on Tuesday, October 13th from 2:30–3:30 p.m at Lake Bonavista School.
