Thank you so much for joining us at our open house. Teachers and students have been busy these first three weeks of school. The art, student work and student voice was displayed and documented in each classroom space. Thank you for submitting your parent viewpoint and connecting with classroom teachers as needed as we embark on this new school year together. If you would still like to add your family photo to our public display in the hallway by the music room, you can send your photo with your child.
If you did not submit your size request for your free school t-shirt (THANK you School Council), please do so by September 25th online. If we have not received it in time, staff will make a sizing decision for your child.
Terry Fox: Friday, September 20 we hosted our assembly. Thank you to our grade 5-6 leaders for hosting and setting up and taking down. Due to the weather, we are moving our run to Monday afternoon. Family School Travel Survey: Lake Bonavista School is taking part in the Active and Safe Routes to School project that will improve the school journey for our students. Through School Travel Planning, our school community will work with community partners to reduce congestion, address traffic safety issues and encourage more students to walk and wheel for school and local trips.
Please complete this 5-minute Family Survey with your eldest child who attends this school. Your input is important to the success of this project. Knowing what travel choices families are making and why they are making them will help the school create an action plan that considers everyone’s needs.
This survey is voluntary; you may choose not to participate and you have the option to withdraw from this survey at any point. We do not ask for your name. Your responses are anonymous and will be stored electronically in secure password-protected files, only accessible to the school's Active and Safe Routes to School team, Ever Active Schools, and the City of Calgary, who are directly involved in the project. Traffic Safety: Did you know that the front of the school is marked with No Stopping sections? We ask families to choose safety over convenience. Parking or stopping in these zones, particularly by the crosswalk, creates reduced visibility for pedestrian safety. In addition, as this street is so busy at drop off and pick up, stopping and parking in this zone creates a single lane for cars to travel in both directions, considerably slowing down traffic. Thank you for adhering to the signage.

Thank you to all that came out for the Pancake Dinner last night; it was great to see everyone. If you would like to continue supporting School Council and Lake Bonavista Improvement Society, please consider volunteering for the upcoming Casino on Monday Oct 21 and Tuesday Oct 22. Only 5 of the 36 spots were filled last night. This event is the largest source of funds for the Lake Bonavista Elementary School Improvement Society.
Your volunteer time at this event can make a huge impact; one shift at the Casino amounts to around $2000 raised. No CBE clearance, or prior experience is required to volunteer. That also makes it a great opportunity for retired or extended family members to help.

Our casino fundraiser is fast approaching; our organization is granted a casino about once every 18-24 months and our next casino is on:

The event is the largest source of funds for the Lake Bonavista Elementary School Improvement Society. Each year, School Staff provide our association with a wish list that we have been able to fulfill with this major fundraising event. Past casino funds have paid for iPads, residencies, field trips, projectors, books, school supplies and much, much more.
