October 9th Update

This week many classes explored seasonal change with buddy fall walks, sit spots and leaf tasks. It was a lovely week to be outside. We also had a special meeting with a representative of our City Counsellor, City of Calgary Rep and CBE Traffic Safety member to discuss solutions to online traffic safety challenges at the school. We greatly appreciate the efforts our families make to choose safety over convenience. We look forward to seeing some our recommendations come to life and we thank the incredible parent volunteers who show up EVERY day to help make our cross walk safe!

From School Council

Our next council meeting is Wednesday, October 21 at 6:00pm in the Learning Commons. We are happy to start our meeting with a new series called Parent Corner at 6:00 with Laura Doney. Laura is a Canadian Certified Counsellor and will be starting our meeting with a parent information session. She will be providing a conversation around fostering independence in our students.

Your voice matters at our school.

School Council is not just for parents who have lots of time or experience. We need parents with different perspectives, ideas, skills and experiences.

You can participate by:

• attending a School Council meeting

• sharing an idea or concern

• joining a short-term project

• volunteering at an event

• helping with parent engagement

• participating in a survey or discussion

• sharing your professional or community expertise

• simply staying informed

You do not have to commit to every meeting or every activity.

Our goal is to build a school community where parents feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas and working together to support students.

If there is something you think could make our school better, we want to hear from you.

Please join us at our next School Council meeting or contact us at lbschair@gmail.com

Your involvement does not have to be big to make a difference.
