October 4, 2024 Update
We always love the start of a new month and the opportunity to reflect on the month before. September created great memories and learning experiences: we celebrated our start up at Open House, hosted our first welcome back assembly, we learned the story of Terry Fox and his courage to make a difference with an assembly and our own run, we learned about Orange shirt day and created our own display to show that every child matters and we all belong at LBS. Our story of the year is just beginning and we are off to a positive start.
We are happy to share that our school raised $625 in the Toonies for Terry fundraiser AND we ran, ran, ran many laps. Thank you for your contributions! All money raised will be going to the Terry Fox Foundation.
World Teacher’s Day
October 5th is World Teacher’s Day. We are so grateful for our group of teachers. We have an exceptional staff who devote their passion and expertise to our school. Thank you for the special treats that have been dropped off at the school. We appreciate your generosity.
Parent Teacher Conference Bookings Open Soon
Parent Teacher conferences are coming up in October. October 24th there will be no school for kindergarten students to allow for enough conference times. There will be some kindergarten conference times during the day. Conference bookings for K-6 will open up on October 9th. BE prepared by ensuring you have set up your MYCBE/PowerSchool account. Conferences for grades K-6 will be Thursday 3:30-7:40 and Friday 8:00-1:00.
Traffic Safety
Did you know that the front of the school is marked with No Stopping sections? Yes, they are in effect at the hours that are posted. We ask families to choose safety over convenience. Parking or stopping in these zones, particularly by the crosswalk, creates reduced visibility for pedestrian safety. In addition, as this street is so busy at drop off and pick up, stopping and parking in this zone creates a single lane for cars to travel in both directions, considerably slowing down traffic. Thank you for adhering to the signage.

URGENT Call for Volunteers | Council Casino Event
We are in urgent need of volunteers to fill the remaining critical roles for our upcoming casino fundraiser on Monday, October 21st and Tuesday, October 22nd at Deerfoot Inn and Casino.
These final positions are essential to the success of this event, and we are calling on our community for immediate support. No experience is necessary, as training will be provided for all roles. To view the available spots and role descriptions, please click below.
