October 27th Update

Did you know each class has an inquiry question of focus that is a catalyst for learning in interdisciplinary ways. You will see evidence of their inquiries in documentation panels in classrooms and through classroom blogs and instagram. These questions anchor the work as well as expand the questioning and connections to difference aspects of the curriculum.  Many of the questions inspire community action, the promotion of peace education or connections to cosmic education. Watch to see how these unfold throughout the year.

Community and Belonging

As we wrap up the month of October, we celebrate our community and all of the ways staff, students and families contribute to belonging.  We celebrate the feeling in our school and the ways our students show care for others. We celebrate the good mornings, goodbye greetings, volunteers, and the ways our community gathers. We celebrate the active and effortful actions that students make to include others and recognize the uniqueness of all. We are LBS!

Cold Weather

We go outside to play twice a day with lunch and afternoon recess. Many classes take their learning outside to make curricular connections to go outside for gym. Please ensure your child is dressed for the weather! It is also very helpful to have boots, winter jackets, and winter items labelled with your child's name. Sadly, we have a lot in our lost and found bin and it is hard to get back to the rightful owner wtihout labels. Students are invited to look at lost and found with their classes regularly.

Halloween at LBS

Students are invited to arrive in costume on October 31st. Costumes should not have masks, gore, or weapons. Our parade will start at 1:00. Families are invited to join us in the gym to see our costumes. We will not be providing shared snacks for Halloween. Please watch for communication from your child’s teacher for more details. November 1st, will be pajama day

Veterans Essential Drive

Room 7 and 8 are leading the Veterans’ Essential Drive. From now until November 8th, we will be collecting the essentials (toothbrush, toothpaste, toilet paper, soap, tissue, shampoo, etc). We welcome all donations.
