October 23rd Update

This week we were THRILLED to see a newly painted crosswalk on 120th Avenue.  You might ask how this came to be....it is through the incredible advocacy of parents in our community to help create change to improve traffic safety. This is a real world and very local example of how we can make a positive difference by using our voices.  As we explore this inquiry throughout our school year, we are incredibly grateful to the parents who continued to advocate for our school.

Thank you to all of our families for supporting your child's learning by attending Parent Teacher Conferences. This time to meet is important as we start off a year of learning, setting goals and intentions for academic achievement. Thank you for visiting our book fair and supporting the Learning Commons. We appreciate the volunteers who assisted. We also thank the volunteers and donations for our first Halloween Costume Swap, hosted by School Council.

Halloween at LBS: As you begin to think about the upcoming Halloween celebration, here are a few reminders. Costumes can be worn to school on Friday, October 30th. No masks, weapons or gore. We still have a full day of learning ahead, so please be certain your child is able to move comfortably in their costume. Please remember that we do not share or distribute food or food items at school.  Watch for a message from your child’s teacher on how they will be marking this day.  At 11:00 we will be having our annual Halloween parade in the gym. Doors will open just before 11. Parents are welcome to attend in the gym, please note that space is limited and may be standing room only. After the parade, parents are asked to wait until the 12:10 dismissal to pick up students. We will not be able to accommodate early pick ups.
