October 16th Update
This week we welcomed Mr. Hebenton to Lake Bonavista School. He supported in the office. It was lovely to see our students interact with a guest Assistant Principal and for them to share what makes US MONTESSORI. Students shared how we demonstrate grace and courtesy and how we are all working towards developing greater independence. They shared how our focus this year was on BRINGING THE JOY and how we can use our VOICE to make a difference. We hope that YOU hear these same messages from your child at home. We are grateful for the strong Montessori culture we have built and continue to nurture.
Halloween at LBS: As you begin to think about the upcoming Halloween celebration, here are a few reminders. Costumes can be worn to school on Friday, October 30th. No masks, weapons or gore. We still have a full day of learning ahead, so please be certain your child is able to move comfortably in their costume. Please remember that we do not share or distribute food or food items at school. Watch for a message from your child’s teacher on how they will be marking this day.
Book Fair Volunteers: We are desperately seeking volunteers to support our book fair on Thursday, October 22 3:30-7:30. Please consider signing up at this link.

From School Council
Thank you to everyone who supported the Apple and Pear Fundraiser.
Our next council meeting is Wednesday, October 21 at 6:00pm in the Learning Commons. We are happy to start our meeting with a new series called Parent Corner at 6:00 with Laura Doney. Laura is a Canadian Certified Counsellor and will be starting our meeting with a parent information session. She will be providing a conversation around fostering independence in our students.
Your voice matters at our school.
School Council is not just for parents who have lots of time or experience. We need parents with different perspectives, ideas, skills and experiences.
You can participate by:
• attending a School Council meeting
• sharing an idea or concern
• joining a short-term project
• volunteering at an event
• helping with parent engagement
• participating in a survey or discussion
• sharing your professional or community expertise
• simply staying informed
You do not have to commit to every meeting or every activity.
Our goal is to build a school community where parents feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas and working together to support students.
If there is something you think could make our school better, we want to hear from you.
Please join us at our next School Council meeting or contact us at lbschair@gmail.com
Your involvement does not have to be big to make a difference.
