November 7th Update

Today we hosted a small Remembrance Day assembly to pay our respects. Each student was given a poppy or a poppy sticker. This is an important day in our Montessori program as we focus on peace and peace education.  Maria Montessori said many years ago, and it still rings true today, “In these times, more than ever before, our hope is that education will offer an aid to better the condition of the world.” Peace education through Montessori philosophy means that peace begins with us. We actively teach ways that students can strengthen their sense of peace and then apply peaceful measures towards our learning community including peaceful conflict resolution. Peace education includes self awareness, cultural awareness, community awareness and environmental awareness. As a Montessori school we actively promote this understanding.
