March 14th Update

As we enter our last week of school before break, there is so much to share. Teachers and students will be curating work to share during interview time this coming week. Please watch for classroom teachers instagrams, blogs and emails on items that will be shared.

March is the time that we gather feedback for School Planning. At this week’s School Council meeting we gave a full overview of budget and school development planning. We welcome your feedback and voice for next year. Please take some time to review our Engagement Presentation and then proceed to the Survey to share your perspective.

This week we arranged ALL lost and found items that had been accumulating for weeks. With the help of grade 5-6 leaders, we organized the items in the gym and had each class come and look at the items. We successfully reunited over half of the items to their owners. Before we started, we gave all items that were labelled directly to students. It really does make a difference to label toques, snowpants, jackets, etc. One of the largest categories of items were sweaters and hoodies. Our goal is to see our number of lost and found items go down each month. This shows care for ourselves, care for others and care for our place.

Conferences

Parent/teacher conferences will be online March 20 and 21. There is NO school for kindergarten students on Thursday, March 20th to accommodate conferences. Conference bookings will close on Wednesday, March 19th at midnight – please ensure you have booked your spot before bookings close. Please use your PowerSchool account to book. When you register, you will receive a confirmation email. You will also receive the Teams link for the online meeting.

Book Fair

As conferences are now online, book fair will be changed. Students will have an opportunity to preview the book fair on Monday and Tuesday. Students will bring home their wishlist and information about books on those days. Parents will be able to make a decision if they would like to send money for students to purchase books. The following two days, students will have an opportunity to purchase books. If parents so choose they can send cash with their child(ren) on the purchasing days that teachers will advertise to each class. Parent volunteers and Mrs. Smith will be supporting with selection and purchase. Items will be put in children's backpack and any extra change will be put in a baggie that is labelled and added to their backpacks as well. Please note that we will not allow students to pay with parent credit or debit cards. Only cash will be excepted at the book fair.   CA Book Fair Homepage Mrs. Smith has sent out a request for parent volunteers to help during this week if you are interested please sign up on the website (you must have your police clearance and volunteer form). https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080E4CAAA72AA0FA7-51982771-lbsbook
