March 13th Update
This week we embarked on exploring our place with Yellow Steps Education. Each class is getting time with Jenn Doeve to making connections to our place and further explore their class inquiry. They are discovering, making observations and asking questions. Our students have noticed new things just steps out the door of the school, making this learning so important as we explore all the teachable moments around us. Watch for more details on how your child’s class is taking up this work.
Student Led Conferences: Conference bookings are open through your MyCBE/PowerSchool account. The format for conferences is student led. Students will have a 45 minute block of time in their classrooms to show process and products. There will time in that period for one on one with the classroom teacher. Students must attend with their parents – plan to stay the full duration of the conference. Only one conference can be booked per student. If you require an additional conference for a unique reason, you will need to contact your child’s teacher. Conference times are Thursday, March 19 3:30-7:30 and Friday, March 20 8:00-12:00. Please note there is NO school for Kindergarten on Thursday, March 19th as their conferences will also be occurring all day.
Teachers will not be able to accommodate bookings outside of this time if your family is unable to attend during these two days.
Scholastic Book Fair: We are happy to host the Scholastic Book Fair at the same time as Student Led conferences. The book fair will be open to parents Thursday, March 19th 3:30-7:00pm (if you book the last conference please do your shopping BEFORE your conference) and Friday, March 20 8:00-12:00 (if you book the last conference please do your shopping BEFORE the conference). Traffic Safety
This week we had police presence to help make a difference in adhering to the traffic signs and rules in front of our school. Once again we remind all parents and extended family members who might support with pick up and drop off, that the front of the school on the school side is a NO STOPPING zone. This is not just when busses are there – it is marked for the duration of the school day.
