January 17th Update

Teachers are busy this month preparing report cards and working through K-3 provincial assessments. Report cards will be available for viewing on Monday, January 27th. The window for report card one viewing closes at the end of May. Please ensure you view the report card, print or save for your own records.

Family Literacy event and School Shirt Day!

We welcome parents and/or grandparents to come and read with us on Friday, January 24th 11:30-12:00. This is a celebration of reading where we stop everything to read together. Students will have books ready to read. Doors will open at 11:30. At 12:00 we will end the reading event. Students will finish off the day with their teachers and will be dismissed at 12:15. To ease the congestion in the office, we ask parents to wait until dismissal to take students home.

Elev8 Lacrosse

Thank you to School Council for supporting the Elev8 Lacrosse residency January 27-30th. All students will have two sessions with the lacrosse experts to get exposed to this new sport. Paperwork will be coming home next week; please watch for this so your child doesn’t miss this opportunity.

Registration

Kindergarten registration opened on January 13th. ALL registrations for new students must be submitted by February 11th at noon to be considered for the lottery – including registrations for siblings. For the 2025-2026 school year, students who are residents and within the boundaries currently enrolled at LBS will be automatically enrolled – no action is required.

New Registrations – How to Register

Our Open House for prospective students and families to learn more about Montessori at LBS will be Thursday, January 30th 6:30-7:30pm.

Extra Clothing

We are looking for some donations of “emergency clothing” to have in the office for students. If you have pants boys and girls size 6-8 that you would like to donate, please bring them to the office.

Away for the Day

A reminder that all elementary schools follow the “Away for the Day” technology policy. Devices that are brought to school need to be turned off and put away. We encourage students to leave personal belongings safely at home. This includes smart watches, phones and tablets.
