January 16th Update

This week Mrs. Watson and Ms. Rooke met with each class to talk about connection. We also explore the Montessori concepts of Grace and Courtesy. When we look beyond the surface, we look beneath, we show one another grace. We explored all of the ways we could describe who we are at our inner core. Students came up with words like brave, calm, friendly, caring, generous, persistent and enthusiastic.  Each student chose one word to add to our connection board. We will continue to document our learning of connection and why it is important to feel a deep sense of connection at school.

Attendance: When students are marked absent without reason, parents receive an automated phone call from the school. Starting Monday, January 19 parents/guardians will also receive an automated phone call if students are late. A reminder that doors open at 8:00 and the bell rings at 8:10 for the start of the day. If students are late to their doors and come through the front door, they will be marked late. If students are late to their classroom they are also marked late. We are working together to start our day at the bell time.

Lunch: Students eat lunch before they go outside to play. As part of our Montessori ways, students prepare their eating space by setting out a placemat. If students do not have a placemat packed with their lunch, please do so. One that is rollable and washable works best for pack to and from school each day. We encourage students to have mindful mouthfuls at the start of lunch and to have calm lunch conversations so that they can focus on finishing their lunches before going out to play.

Upcoming Dates:

January 29: Healthy Hunger

January 29: Montessori Open House for NEW students 6:30-7:30pm

January 30: Non-instructional Day

School Council

Get Involved. Make a Difference. Be Part of Our School Community!

Our School Council is looking for enthusiastic parents and caregivers to help make this school year memorable for our students. Volunteering is a rewarding way to support our school, connect with other families, and create amazing experiences for our kids—no experience required and support is always provided!

Why Your Help Matters
Our School Council  and Parent Council events and programs are entirely volunteer-led. Without enough support, much-loved activities like the School Dance, Welcome Back BBQ, Yearbook, and even the Fun Lunch may need to be scaled back or not offered at all. Every volunteer—whether helping occasionally or taking on a coordinator role—directly impacts what we’re able to provide for our students. Your time and involvement truly make these special experiences possible.

We are still looking for support filling the following roles:

Volunteer Coordinator

Help bring our events to life by organizing volunteers throughout the year. You’ll keep a contact list, coordinate sign-ups, and ensure volunteers are cleared—making it easy for others to lend a hand.

Fun Lunch Coordinator
Help make lunchtime extra exciting! This role involves planning fun lunches using Healthy Hunger, coordinating vendors, and helping ensure orders and volunteers are well organized. You don’t need to attend every lunch—just help set things up for success.

Yearbook Coordinator and committee members
Capture the memories! Work as part of a team to create our school yearbook by attending events, taking photos, organizing layouts, and ensuring consent forms are collected.

Interested in any of these roles?  Please reach out to our chair at lbschair@gmail.com

Looking for a High-Impact, One-Day Way to Help?
If ongoing volunteering isn’t possible right now, consider signing up for a casino volunteer shift. June 22nd or June23rd 2026 Just one shift can raise hundreds of dollars for our School Council. These funds help reduce the cost of field trips, support extra classroom resources, and enhance programs that directly benefit our students. It’s a powerful way to make a big difference in a single day!
