April 2nd Update
This week we were able to welcome Melissa Allan, author of “Brave Like the Buffalo” come speak to our school. She told us about writing the book, shared a song, and answered our questions. We learned that buffalo go head first in the storm and face it with courage. We connected that learning to reading “The Magical Yet” and how we can show courage and resilience to achieve our goals.
Attendance
Thank you for sending all emails regarding attendance to the office email lakebonavista@cbe.ab.ca It is helpful to also inform teachers but essential that the office staff are notified to help process lates, early pick ups and absences properly.
Spring Event – May 7
LBS Springs Together will take place on May 7 from 6:30-8:00 pm. There will be activities for families to do together throughout the school. Each class will be doing a musical performance on the stage as part of the event. Stay tuned to as information about what time your child performs will be shared soon.
Gymnastics
We will begin gymnastics in our regularly scheduled gym classes for the month of April. Safety routines, cooperation and sportsmanship are taught and reviewed in each class. This physical activity opportunity will help students acquire individual skills through a variety of developmentally appropriate movement activities.
It is important for students to come to school prepared to be actively engaged. The following guidelines are very helpful…
HEAD TO TOE - READY TO GO!!!
Head: long hair pulled back
Ears/Throat/Wrist: jewelery off
Shirt: one-layer shirt
Waist: tucked in
Pants: sporty pants or shorts, no belts or zippers
Ankles: pants rolled up if ankles are covered
Toes: running shoes, gymnastic slippers or bare feet (no footed tights)

Open Positions – Yearbook and Healthy Hunger Coordinator
School Council is looking for a yearbook coordinator and volunteers. If you are interested in supporting this project, please reach out to lbschair@gmail.com for more information.
We are also seeking a Healthy Hunger coordinator for the 2026-2027 school year. Please reach out to council if you are interested. If neither of these positions are filled, we will have to consider the future of these experiences.
Casino
Our biggest fundraiser of the year is our Casino and we need YOUR help to make it a success. This two day fundraiser allows our school to have amazing enhancements. Please sign up for a time to volunteer and help make a difference at LBS.
