March 1st Update

This week, to celebrate our ongoing Literacy Month, we tried Drop Everything and Write! Students were well prepared and walked around their journals and pencils, reading for the announcement. It was great to have a moment to stop and write a reflection on the moment. Ask your child about what they decided to write during this time.

 Pink shirt

Thank you to rooms 13 and 16 for the uplifting assembly for Pink Shirt Day. They shared poems, stories and songs to highlight the importance of kindness.

On March 5th, LBS will be “going” to the Opera. We are excited to host a virtual performance by Calgary Opera. Mrs. Kawchuk sent out details through SchoolMessenger.

We have a NEW website! We are continuing to work out the details of this new site and will add our stories to the site as soon as we are able to.

Montessori Tenet

For the month of the March we will be exploring Practical life Skills are our Montessori tenet. There are many examples of ways we develop practical life skills such as preparing and packing lunch, taking care of our belongings, and setting up our space with a placemat to eat our lunch. Throughout the month of March, we will share more of what this means at LBS and ideas of how you can support this at home.
